Bhubaneswar, Jan. 30: Sea and adventure lovers are all set for a perfect getaway amid surfing, music and art at the Ramachandi beach in Puri, where the India Surf Festival (ISF) will begin from February 6.

The festival that is in its fourth edition this year will let the participants take pleasure in a number of exciting water activities at workshops conducted on walk on water, yoga on water and yoga on the beach, stand up paddling as well as long boarding.

“The mission is to make the people realise the importance of water sports, apart from making it an open festival not only limited for the sports enthusiasts,” said ISF founder Sanjay Samantaray.

Another highlight of the festival includes the kite surfing performances by around 10 international kite surfers. The surfers will display stunts in the air, including twin tip, surfboard, race board, free style and wave style, and the one displaying the maximum number of stunts would be rewarded.

The Kitesurfing Lanka, a group of kite surfers from Sri Lanka, will also be demonstrating the sport to visitors.
The entire camp has been designed from natural materials such as bamboo, jute, cloths, coconut ropes and wood with involvement from the local fishing communities.

A number of international artistes from Argentina, Ireland, Spain, Japan, Ukraine and USA will showcase their skills of magic, juggling, balancing acts and fire dances.

The festival will begin with a workshop on surfing conducted by three women surfers from Portugal on January 31. Apart from demonstrating the basic steps of surfing, the workshops will also focus on educating the participants about the major benefits of water sports.

At the festival, local photographers would also get a chance to interact with international clickers on adventure sports photography at the event Hungry Lens.

“Active lifestyle photography is gaining a lot of attention among photographers, adventure sportsmen, enthusiasts and fans of these sports. We are organising the workshop for the shutterbugs to capture action in water in varying frames,” said Samantray.

As many as 50 surfers, including over 25 from abroad, and over 5,000 visitors are expected to attend the festival this year.
