Bhubaneswar: Adolescent girls in the city were trained on various socio-economic themes at a three-day workshop in the city.
Aimed to empower girls from slums of Bhubaneswar Town Centre District through life skill training, the training focused mainly on financial literacy and safe saving options.
Thirty girls were provided information on forms of savings, requirements and benefits of savings, ways to ensure regular savings, safe and secure saving options and schemes, technical issues related to life insurance, health insurance and available government schemes for formation of self-help groups.
"The project aims to promote safety of girls and women in Bhubaneswar with specific focus on urban slums, through community partnerships," said mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
