Koraput: The district unit of the BJP on Monday surrounded the tehsil office in Jeypore alleging massive irregularities were taking place there.
The party claims work such as issuing land patta (record of rights), residential certificates and legal heir certificates are never carried out on time.
"Applicants are forced to keep visiting the office for months to get their work done. The only reason for this delay is because the officials working there are indifferent to the plight of the people," said Amar Lal Ahuja, Jeypore town president of the party.
The BJP also alleges that temples under the endowment department are not maintained properly and demanded for their proper upkeep.
"The condition of the temples under the care of endowment department is very bad. Due to years of negligence, most of the temple buildings have developed cracks and lack basic facilities. We demand strengthening of infrastructure at the temples," Ahuja said.
The BJP submitted a memorandum listing their demands to additional tehsildar Manas Patnaik.
"Their allegations will be looked into and necessary action will be taken, if required," said Patnaik.
