Cuttack, Feb. 23: The municipal corporation will focus on transparency and effective implementation of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) programme here.

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation will conduct a study on the development models adopted by various civic bodies across the country in this regard.

Official sources said a team, led by deputy mayor Ajay Barik and a few councillors and engineers, would shortly visit Hyderabad on a study trip. The team will review the existing measures adopted for effective solid waste management, development of urban infrastructures, parks and other citizen centric services.

"Our focus will be on conducting a detail assessment of the projects and the basic initiatives adopted to provide better services to residents," said Ranjan Biswal, chairman of the corporation's standing committee on public health.

An official said the study would be successful in execution of the scheme, particularly from the next fiscal.

Under the scheme, the civic body has already decided to carry out renovation and beautification of existing parks in the city.

The corporation has earmarked Rs 2.03 crore under the scheme to develop the parks. The funds will be spent towards beautification and renovation of the existing parks in the first phase. Later, efforts will be taken to create new parks in various parts of the city.

The official said that already four parks - Biswanath Pandit park at Khannagar, Akshay Mohanty park at Kanika Chhak, Chandan Pokari park at Choudhry Bazaar and Jobra park - had been included under the project. The civic body would also use its own funds to develop Chahata park and Gopabandhu park.
