
Mathematician and the brain behind Super 30 initiative Anand Kumar has tied up with Bhubaneswar-based Adyant Plus Two Science College to hunt for 30 meritorious students from economically backward sections of society to train them for engineering entrance examinations for free. Super 30 is an innovative educational programme under the banner of Ramanujan School of Mathematics, started by Kumar. Students will be selected from Jeypore, Balasore, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and Berhampur through an entrance examination that will be held in Sambalpur on July 2.
Child marriage
International human rights organisation Action Aid and Unicef Odisha recently organised a three-day leadership training programme in Bhubaneswar to prevent child marriages. More than 40 youngsters from various districts took part in the programme. The objective of the programme was to create awareness about child marriage and to build a safe society. A number of activities and group discussions were held during the programme.
World record
Satyapir Pradhan of Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital made an entry into the Guinness Book of Records for making the maximum number of full contact punch strikes in one minute. Pradhan hit 393 punches in one minute breaking the previous record of Pakistan's Muhammad Rashid who had hit 377 punches in a minute in Karachi on October 22, 2016. Pradhan is a physiotherapy intern at the college.
Placement drive
Four students from the department of journalism and mass communication, Central University of Odisha, got placements in Eenadu Digital, a division of Ushodaya Enterprises Private Limited, Hyderabad this year. This is the first time the university conducted a placement drive for the students. Vice-chancellor of the varsity Sachidananda Mohanty congratulated the selected candidates. These candidates will be posted at the head office of Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. All the selected candidates were in fourth semester and had just completed their course.
