A 10-member group from Bhutan performed at the Bhanja Kala Mandap in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Led by 39-year-old Tshering Dorji, the group mesmerised the audience with their folk recitals. Their performance was accompanied by traditional musical instruments like the dranyen (lute), pi-wang (fiddle), lingm (flute) and yangchen (dulcimer), was a treat to the senses. While the inaugural presentation was a welcome offering to the guests, the remaining presentations paid tribute to the gods, their guardian deities, kings and the people of the Land of the Thunder Dragon. They feel that all of them have been instrumental in preserving peace and happiness of the state. Their performance was appreciated by the local audience.
The team has performed at a number of places in the world ithat includes Australia, Singapore, Germany, Africa and New York.
