Jajpur: District collector Ranjan Kumar Das on Wednesday served show-cause notices to 10 engineers for their failure to meet targets in construction of toilets under the Swachha Bharat Yojana.

Das pulled them up for not completing work in five blocks after a review meeting.

"Ten engineers, including an assistant engineer, of five blocks have been served show-cause notices for dereliction of duty. They have been asked to reply to the notice within three days," he said.

The engineers who were served the notices are assistant engineers Manasi Rout and Sumanta Tripathy, junior engineers of Danadagi block Deepak Kumar Jena and Rudra Keshari Sethy, junior engineers of Dharmasala block Swarnalata Rout and Manoj Kumar Behera, their counterparts in Dasarathapur block, Debashish Dhal and Puspanjali Rath, junior engineers of Binjharpur block Anil Kumar Samal and a assistant engineer Bijayananda Biswal of Jajpur block, sources said.

If they failed to reply within the time frame, the collector said they would be suspended.
