Balasore: As many as 112 schools of the district have not complied with the directive of the school and mass education department to submit report of compliance of student database management information system (SDMIS).

There are 3,552 schools - including government and private ones - across the district. The institutions were asked to complete the system in the respective blocks and submit a report to the district education officer and district project co-ordinator of Sarva SikshyaAbhiyan. Despite a number of reminders, the reports have not been submitted, said an official in the state school and mass education department.

On November 3, the district collector had directed the defaulting schools to complete the system by November 17.

Under the SDMIS, all data in the Aadhaar linking of students in each class are supposed to be uploaded.

A department official said that some schools were avoiding the digitalisation of data. "Aadhaar linking will eliminate several manipulations, including inflating the student strength of the class for midday meal and other benefits. Some students are reading in some particular government schools only in pen and paper. These things will be exposed as soon as students' Aadhaar cards are linked and uploaded," said the official requesting anonymity .

Nodal head for the SDMIS Surendra Prasad Sankhua said action would be taken against the school headmasters for failing to submit the compliance of SDMIS.
