Rourkela: The week-long 69th Van Mahotsav organised by the NIT-Rourkela concluded here on July 8. The programme was held with the help of the forest department and the Central Industrial Security Force. Tree plantation programmes were held on the sprawling campus of the institute as part of the programme.
"We planted more than three thousand trees at vacant places on the campus as part of the Van Mahotsav that is being celebrated country wide," said deputy registrar of the institute Bamdev Achrya.
A meeting was organised on the concluding day, where local divisional forest officer S.K. Swain and the assistant commandant of CISF took part along with several others. On the concluding day, more than 200 more saplings were planted.
Director in charge of the institute S Meher presided over the concluding event. Among others, institute registrar S.K. Upadhyay, assistant commandant of the CISF R.P. Pathak took part.
In his welcome address, registrar S K Upadhyay thanked the officials of Forest division and the CISF for co-operation.
