Rourkela: Both undergraduate and postgraduate students of Government Autonomous College here have outperformed the last year's performance.
This year, the pass rate is above 90 per cent nearly in all the departments with girls outshining boys. The results were declared on Thursday.
"We have made a very definite progress as far as the students' performance is concerned," said officiating principal Kichak Jena.
At present, principal Debendra Behera is on an official tour to Delhi.
Jena said the result was due to the stress given on academics. "We are serious about the students' attendance in classes."
He charted out a comparative statement between two academic years - 2016-17 and 2017-18. "The comparative statement establishes the fact that how our academic performance has increased in a span of two years. For the academic year 2017-18 in the undergraduate courses, the pass percentage in arts was 93.41 in comparison to last year's 89.02. In science, it was 87.08 per cent as against 70.90 last year, and in commerce, the comparison stood at 96.15 per cent this session as against 92.31 last year. "The science stream suffered a little last year because of the paucity of faculty. Now, it has changed as we got more teachers to take care of the students," said Jena.
