Firemen train Sishu Bhavan staff members in Cuttack during a two-day training programme on Sunday.

The fire services department initiated steps to train employees of government hospitals to handle emergency situations following last November's fire at Sishu Bhavan. Doctors, nurses, attendants and security personnel were trained in the standard operating procedure in case of a major fire.

"The objective is to ensure that the manpower is capable of handling such disasters in an effective manner," said fire officer (central range) B.B. Das.
