Record students to take Class X exam

KISS sets new benchmark

Exam record

A record of 1,600 students from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) will appear in the Class-X board exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.

This is the highest number of students from a single school to write the board exam. These students are from various tribes from across 30 districts of Odisha.

This year, the highest number of students from Saura and Lanjia Saura primitive tribes are appearing in the exam.

The students will appear in the examination in centres at Niladri Vihar, Unit-8 and Fakir Nagar, Baramunda Sarswati Sisu Mandir.

For mother tongue

Students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, observed the International Mother Language Day on Wednesday.

A series of activities, such as poetry recitation, one-act play, cultural numbers and collage making, were held to emphasise the importance of mother tongue among kids.

Talk on moon

British journalist and BBC reporter Sue Nelson visited Sai International School on Friday. She interacted with students and addressed science teachers, senior students and staff on "Going Back to the Moon - A Journalist's Perspective". Nelson spoke on eminent British science journalists, space journalists and their views on various issues related to the moon. She gave a vivid description on the moon. She also spoke on business, environment, ethics, science and technology, travel, psychology, medical rights and equality.

For orphans

Nalco Mahila Samiti, led by its president Preeti Roy, visited the Adruta Children's Home, a shelter for orphan children, and distributed bed-sheets and blankets to the inmates. Other Samiti office-bearers, including secretary Trupti Das, were present on the occasion.

Sports meet

Adani DAV Public School in Bhadrak recently celebrated its 6th Annual Sports Meet on the school premises.

All the house captains inspired the participants and each one played with true sense of vigour, team spirit and proper coordination. The programme was inaugurated at 8.30a.m.

The winner of the meet was Yamuna House that bagged the highest points.

The runner-up prize was received by Mahanadi House. Akankshya Das bagged up the winner's trophy from the senior girls' group and Karan Kumar received the winner's trophy from the senior boys' Group.
