Cuttack, Aug. 28: City police will probe into the case of alleged rape attempt on a lady constable posted in the office of railway superintendent of police in the city by two of her male colleagues.

Official sources said the lady constable had earlier lodged a complaint in this regard at Government Railway Police (GRP) station.

Based on the FIR, the GRP yesterday registered a case against the two accused officers. However, as the place of the alleged incident falls within Chauliaganj police station limits, the case will now be investigated by Commissionerate Police.

Sources said railway police superintendent Sanjay Kaushal today initiated the process to transfer the case.

Confirming it to The Telegraph, Cuttack deputy commissioner of police Akhileswar Singh said: "We expect the transfer process to be completed tomorrow. After receiving the FIR papers, a case will be registered at Chauliaganj police station, and investigation into the allegations will be started."

GRP sources said the 32-year-old lady constable had brought charges of rape attempt and criminal intimidation against the two officers.

She alleged that both the officers forcefully entered her staff quarters on August 26. They had behaved badly with her, made a rape attempt and threatened her with life if she disclosed about it.

She had, in her complaint, described the act as atrocity by superiors and demanded justice.

In her complaint, she has reportedly named a reserve inspector and an assistant armoury officer as the accused. Both the officers were not available for complaints.

However, the reserve inspector in question had hit the headlines in June for making four home guards, including a woman, kneel down for reaching five minutes late on duty at the district home guard office in Baripada, where he was posted at that time. Later, the Odisha State Human Rights Commission took up the matter after a human rights activist had filed a petition on it.

A team of 40 surgeons, including experts from Japan today, began separation surgery of conjoined twins Jaga and Balia of Kandhamal at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
