Bhubaneswar: The low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger rainfall in parts of coastal and interior Odisha in the next 24 hours, the regional Met centre has predicted. The weather office has also warned that heavy rainfall was likely to occur at one or two places over several districts.

Farmer killed

Bhubaneswar: A Nayagarh farmer died on Saturday after coming in contact with a high tension wire while working in his field. Gurubari Barad, 55, was digging earth in his farm when the wire passing above reportedly snapped and coiled around him.

Disaster

Bhubaneswar: The state government will install early warning systems to caution people about arrival of major natural calamities like tsunami and cyclone. Chief Secretary A.P. Padhi directed revenue and disaster
management officials to ensure their installation by August 15.
