Bhubaneswar, July 18: A Plus Two student of Divine Residential School in Nayagarh today accused three of his seniors of inflicting physical and mental torture on him.

The 16-year-old, who has injury marks all over his body, was sent for medical examination.

The student also lodged a formal complaint at Nayagarh police station, after which police swung into action.

He alleged that three of his seniors had been physically and mentally abusing him for a long time. "The seniors used blades to inflict injuries on me. They would bite me and make me do whatever they wanted. They also used burning mosquito coils to hurt me and forced me to do sit-ups on a regular basis," said the student.

The student's parents alleged that such torture had affected their son mentally and he went into deep trauma. It has also lowered his confidence and self-esteem and affected his studies. They demanded stringent action against the guilty.

The chairman of the school, Kamalakant Sahoo, said: "We are with him and will do everything possible to comfort him at this hour. Stringent action will be taken against the guilty students. We will also bear all the medical expenses of the student."

A senior police officer said a case had been registered and action would be taken against the accused in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act as all of them were minors.
