Bhubaneswar, Sept. 2: As many as 26 Chilika Fresh outlets will come up in the city.

An agreement was signed today between the state-run Fish Farmers' Co-operative Federation and Falcon Marine Exports Limited to set up the outlets. "The purpose to set up the outlets aims to provide good quality and fresh fish products to residents," said fisheries and animal resource development secretary Bishnupada Sethi.

On the federation's request, the state government has provided 26 sites. Falcon Marine Exports Limited was selected as the highest bidder to set up the kiosks in the city, said Sethi.

The federation would get a rent of Rs 61.92 lakh in the first year, which will go up by 6 per cent per annum for a period of 15 years. "With this initiative, better linkage among the primary co-operative societies will be established," Sethi said.

"This initiative is first of its kind in the country," said agriculture and fisheries and animal resource minister Pradeep Maharathy.
