Rourkela: The demand for a foot overbridge in front of the Hanuman Vatika is gaining momentum as citizens feel that the administration should look into the issue with immediate effect.

Hanuman Vatika is a major tourist attraction in the city, located 50 metres away from the spot where the Ring Road and the civil township's one-way bypass meets.

Heavy vehicles entering or leaving Rourkela use the bypass.

On any day, commuting becomes extremely difficult as vehicles, both two and four-wheelers, are parked on both sides of the one-way.

"This makes the road accident prone," said local resident Lulu Panda.

For the heavy vehicle drivers, commuting through this crossing becomes a difficult task, especially on holidays or any festival occasion.

Sundargarh collector Vineet Bhardwaj said: "We are planning such foot overbridges at various places in Rourkela. Let us see whether that is feasible in front of Hanuman Vatika." The collector said he would order for a survey first.
