Bhubaneswar: A youth died while taking a bath at the Puri sea beach on Sunday. The victim was identified as Santanu Mukharjee of Bengal. He was a student of Paramedical Science College at Durgapur. e, along with 30 other students of the college, was on a study tour to Puri. He was drowned while taking a bath at the “Digabareni Khunti”. He was later rescued and admitted to hospital where doctors declared him dead. Bhubaneswar: Oriya boy Ravi Kumar, last year’s Commonwealth Games gold-medallist weightlifter, will lead a 15-member Indian team at the International Weightlifting Federation’s Senior World Weightlifting Championships. The event will be held in Paris from November 1 to 15. Bhadrak: Agitated farmers of Bhandaripokhri block on Sunday blocked the National Highway 5 for several hours demanding sufficient water for irrigation. The farmers also alleged that their lands had turned dry because of lack of water and the farmers at the upstream areas were diverting the canal water. The two-hour long road blockade came to an end after intervention of district administration. Jajpur: Three motorcycle-borne youths robbed a businessman near Panikoli on Saturday while he was returning from Bhubaneswar. The goons intercepted the vehicle and looted his necklace, gold rings and cash worth Rs 3,000.
