Bus service resumes after eight days
Berhampur: Buses from Aska to Bhubaneswar via Kodala started plying again after eight days of the turbulent situation. More than 20 buses from Aska on their way to Bhubaneswar passed through Kodala on Thursday. However, buses from Kodala to Berhampur via Purushottampur are yet to ply due to bad road. A four-member team of the non-political All India Youth Committee led by its president Ramani Ranjan Routray and vice-president Sukanta Mohanty visited villages including Chachina and Mathasarasingh. “All the parties must try to restore peace in Kodala and not politicise the issue,” said Routray. Congress supporters gheraoed the block offices at Purushottampur and Kabisuryanagar on Thursday. They also demanded the resignation of the chief minister. Bhubaneswar: The state government has set a target of collecting Rs 4,000 crore as mining revenue for the current financial year. The revenue has already crossed Rs 1,000 crore mark during the first quarter of this year. Joda Mining Circle in Keonjhar district is the largest contributor to mining revenue collected in the entire state.The state government is also hopeful of achieving the overall revenue collection at Rs 19,000 crore set for this fiscal. Bhubaneswar: The state government will distribute fruit saplings in competitive prices among 1,000 farmers of 75 blocks. While informing about the move, agriculture minister Pradipta Maharathi also informed that the scheme will be implemented in all 314 blocks from the coming year. The decision came on the wake “Vana Mahostav” which was observed in July. As per the state government’s decision fruit saplings will be planted in every government quarters of the capital. BHUBANESWAR: The state government is planning to construct 4,130 km of concrete road in 20,580 villages during the financial year 2011-12. hief minister Naveen Patnaik, while assessing the construction of roads, has directed the authorities concerned to construct roads on priority basis in villages, which lack concrete roads. The money required for this will be spent through various schemes. e also directed the departmental heads to deploy district-level officers to ensure work quality and strengthen the social audit system. According to sources, around 12,114 km of cement concrete road has been built during 2006-07 and 2010-11. This year, the state government has planned a special budget for construction of cement concrete roads. Berhampur: About 200 NCC cadets and teachers from various schools and colleges in Berhampur participated in a training camp to learn ways to tackle fire mishaps at Khallikote College ground on Tuesday. We trained the cadets about the steps they must take to extinguish the fire and carry out the rescue operation during a fire accident,” said Simanchal Padhi, assistant fire officer of Berhampur.
