Rourkela:Government Railway Police (GRP), Rourkela, arrested two persons trying to illegally transport electrical explosives from Barbil to Dhanbad on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Md. Jadav Alam (28) and Subodh Singh. The duo was trying to transport 120 bundles of electrical detonators through Rourkela station and were waiting to board a train to Dhanbad. The police seized detonators, three mobiles and Rs 57,000 cash from their possession. Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Koksara village in Kalahandi after local residents spotted Maoist posters in the area. The handwritten posters were pasted on the walls of Podagadi primary health centre. The poster asked the panchayat sarpanch to improve his work in the area and stop harassing people. Bhubaneswar: Following allegations of selling stale kheer, the manager of Khirachora Gopinath temple in Balasore has been suspended. Mukunda Das was placed under suspension by executive officer Satya Ranjan Jena following complaints of irregularities and evidences. An inquiry has been initiated by the district collectorate in the matter. Balasore: Vigilance sleuths carried out raids at the office, residence and other associated places of Ananta Padhi, a senior clerk of the district inspector of schools on Thursday following allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income. The officers verified various moveable and immovable property including cash, deposits, documents, ornaments and gold jewellery. The raids took place in Chakajagannathpur, Khantapara, his present residence at Angargadia and his in-laws place near Chandipur. Assessments were yet to be done, said inspector Aditya Pratihari. Bhubaneswar: An employee of Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) registered a case on Thursday against the assistant commissioner of commercial sales tax accusing the latter of misbehaviour and physical assault. The complainant Radhashyam Dutta alleged that he was assaulted by Janmajaya Jena, the officer, while he went to see him in his office on Wednesday in connection with a form. A case has been registered. Sambalpur: The information technology department on the second floor of the Sambalpur L.I.C. division office caught fire due to short circuit on Thursday. According to the L.I.C. branch manager Ashok Ray, the data processing unit was gutted. The fire broke out around 9am and appear to have resulted from a short circuit in an air conditioner, said Ray. The server and two air conditioners have been destroyed.
