Sambalpur: One person was killed and three injured in a shoot-out incident in Hirakud on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Suraj Dharua, a resident of Bareipale in Sambalpur. The injured have been identified as Purusottam Diggal, 60, Banty Kumar Gupta, 28, and Bulu Barik, 28, of Durgamandirpara of Hirakud. Eyewitnesses said around eight persons, who had reached on four motorbikes, attacked Dharua. The assailants escaped leaving behind their bikes. Police has recovered the bikes. The four were rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Medical College and Hospital at Burla. However, Suraj Dharua succumbed to injury in the hospital and the condition of the three injured were stated to be critical. The police have detained two persons and are inquiring into the matter. Bhubaneswar: An employee of Railway Claims Tribunal was arrested on Tuesday by Kharavela Nagar police for verbally abusing and threatening some judicial members during proceedings. Judicial member E. Rajaraman and other advocates lodged a complaint against Niranjan Tripathy, personal secretary of Rajaraman. The advocates said when Rajaraman called Tripathy for dictation, the latter refused and misbehaved with the judicial member. However, the accused denied such allegation saying that he was targeted by a fraction of people in the tribunal. Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area formed over the coastal Gangetic Bengal and neighbourhood on Tuesday might trigger rain and thundershower at many places over coastal Orissa, met officials said. Under its impact, gusty surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph would prevail along and off Orissa coast, officials said. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea.
