Bhubaneswar: State government on Tuesday ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident in which a woman employee beat up Nirmal Patnaik, district inspector of schools, at Soro in Balasore on Monday. The inquiry will be conducted by Balasore circle inspector of schools, said school and mass education minister Pratap Jena here on Tuesday. Jena said stringent actions would be taken against the guilty. “Such type of act in the public view affects the image of the government officials,” he said. The woman, Anita Nayak, had accused Patnaik of taking Rs 80,000 to give her permanent employment. Bhubaneswar: Chief secretary Bijay Patnaik has asked the vigilance department to prepare a list of corrupt officers. “The record will help us keep a watch on the officers who have been accused of being indulged in corruption,” said Patnaik. The vigilance department has started preparing the list which is expected to be ready by the end of October. Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped in Maharshi College of Natural Law on Tuesday as two groups of students clashed over parking their cycles in the cycle stand. Though there was no injury, police were deployed to avoid any further clash on the campus. Sources said that the dispute started when the cycle of a Plus II student hit a person who was standing there. Following this, a quarrel started between the duo. Soon, the friends of both the students gathered and started fighting among themselves. Bhubaneswar: Diptiprakash Ray, a youth from Balangir, died on Monday in dengue sparking a suspicion over other such cases. The youth was first admitted to a local clinic and then transferred to Rourkela where his blood sample was tested and the results came positive for dengue. Bhubaneswar: The Unique Identification (UID) number will be available in 134 post offices across the state. In Bhubaneswar, the numbers will be available at the GPO and Shahid Nagar, Ashok Nagar and Old Bhubaneswar post offices. It will also be available at Balakati, Balipatna, Kakatpur, Nimapara, Pipli and Astarang post offices.
