Cooked food at hospital

Sambalpur: Authorities of Veer Surendra Sai Medical College and Hospital, at Burla have proposed to serve the patients with cooked food from August 15. The patients are now being served with dry food items. We have proposal to serve the food in hygienic way. The SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and the MKCG edical College and Hospital in Berhampur have already started catering cooked food to the patients admitted to our hospital,” said hospital’s dietician Ajay Dhal.

Mother care

Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to start an innovative programme titled ‘Mamata’ for care and protection of mothers and children from this year. The programme aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates by improving health and nutritional status of the pregnant women. Pregnant women above 19 can avail benefits of the scheme for first two live births. However, the scheme will not be applicable for employees of state and central governments and PSUs. The eligible will get Rs 5,000 in four instalments.

Proposal

Bhubaneswar:An information technology company has shown interest to work for skill development and improvement of mobile commerce system. Company director Avinash Vashist gave the proposal during a meeting with chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday. He said the state had all the abilities to become a high performer in the country.

Fresh norms

Bhubaneswar: The state government has issued a six-point fresh guideline on sponge iron or blast furnace mix for consideration of the expansion of green field and brown field projects. The announcement came on the basis of decision taken by the high-level clearance committee in their 14th meeting held on May 4. The guideline includes adaptation of state-of-the-art energy efficient technology and the pollution control measures for companies, which have an annual steel-making capacity of 1.5 million tonnes.

Funds usage

Bhubaneswar: The state government has claimed to have utilised more than 95 per cent of funds received through the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna. This has been revealed in a state-level standing committee held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik at the secretariat on Tuesday. The government had also constructed 21,168.49km of road against the sanctioned length of 29,857.12km.

E-admission

Bhubaneswar: The department of higher education has decided to give priority to e-admissions to the candidates in the second selection, who have failed to take admission during the first counselling. The second selection merit list will be published on Thursday. The admissions for the second selection list will be conducted on August 16 and 17.
