Sambalpur: Protesting against the “step-motherly treatment” meted out to Orissa in the railway budget, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) activists on Sunday staged a dharana in front of the Sambalpur railway station. The dharna was organised by the youth wing of the party. enior BJD leader Bijay Mohanty said: “Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had sought an allocation of Rs 2,085 crore for Orissa in railway budget. However, the railway ministry has sanctioned only Rs 1,168 crore. Bhubaneswar: Four police personnel including inspector-in-charge of the Hirakud police station Subash Chandra Sahu were injured following an exchange of fire with dacoits. Two dacoits also sustained bullet injuries and were arrested. The dacoits were trying to escape after looting Rs 15,000 from a petrol pump near Rengali. olice seized a stolen car, two pistols, one revolver, four live cartridges, six mobile sets and a paper number plate from the dacoits.
