Bhubaneswar: The water resources department authorities on Sunday opened 22 gates of the Hirakud reservoir. The water level reached 624.8 feet at the reservoir against its capacity of 630 feet, following heavy rain in the upper catchment area. While 3.36 lakh cusec of water was entering the reservoir, 3.80 lakh cusec was being discharged from it. In the Mundali barrage near Cuttack, the water discharge rate was 4.31 lakh cusec. The flood situation in northern Orissa has been deteriorating. Berhampur: One person was injured in a group clash over land dispute at Gowdagotha in Ganjam district on Saturday. The injured, identified as Simanchal Gowda, a resident of Hastina village, was admitted to Badagada Hospital on Sunday. Bishnu Prasad Barik, inspector in-charge of Badagada police station said Gowda was injured by a shot from a hunter’s gun and sustained injury on his cheek. Bhubaneswar: As many as 157 people got diarrhoea after consuming wild mushroom at Gajidiha village near Badasahi block of Mayurbhanj district. Twenty-four of those affected have been admitted to Badasahi Hospital.
