Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal supremo Naveen Patnaik on Monday revamped the party’s youth wing set up and appointed Brahamagiri MLA Sanjay Kumar Dasburma as its president. Earlier, Dasburma was functioning as convener of the youth wing. The party also appointed nine vice- presidents, five general secretaries and six secretaries.

Bhubaneswar: A herd of wild elephants on Sunday night created panic among the residents of Shyamasundarpur and Nuagaon, north of Bharatpur Reserve Forest and Jagannath Prasad on the city outskirts. The herd damaged fruit trees and vegetable fields. Though all the elephants returned to the forest one tusker remained there till Monday. However, forest officials managed to drive it away to the forests of the Chandaka-Dampara Sanctuary.

Missing

Bhubaneswar: A contractor from Bengal who had been appointed by a construction company in the city, has allegedly been kidnapped. The contractor was identified as Kamal Krishna Poddar. He was staying in the capital for last two months. Poddar’s wife on Monday met the police commissioner on Monday after the Mancheswar and Laxmi Sagar police refused to receive her complaint. he family members suspected that some business rivals might have kidnapped him. She also suspected the role of the company staff.“The family members of the deceased have been informed and the body was sent for postmortem,” said inspector-in-charge of Tangi Rajkishore Swain.
