AIEEE revised date

Bhubaneswar: The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) would be held on May 11, said CBSE state coordinator Keshab Satapathy. Following a question paper leak on Sunday, the exam was held three hours late across the country. Students who could not take the test on that day were supposed to appear for it on May 8. To avoid a clash with other exams, including the Orissa Joint Engineering Entrance exam, the all-India exam has now been postponed to May 11.

Cop complaint

Bhubaneswar: Dalit Adivasi Surakhya Mancha Orissa lodged a complaint in the Saheed Nagar police station on Sunday against the police commissioner and depu-ty police commissioner in connection with the death of a 32-year-old woman who, they alleged, was a victim of police lathich-arge on March 21 when manch had held a demonstration in the capital. The woman's husband, Rhas Behari Behera, also lodged a separate complaint regarding her dea-th in the same police station. She died on Sunday at her house in Khurda.

Two killed

Paradip:Two pedestrians including a woman were killed and three others critically injured when a cargo-laden truck ran over them near Teramanapur on the Cuttack-Paradip state highway, about 35km from here. Angry residents from the nearby villages blocked the road for nearly three hours after the accident. The deceased have been identified as Pramila Kuanra (30) and Kabindra Mallick (35). Reckless driving was stated to be the cause of the accident.

Five nabbed

Balasore: Four men and a woman were arrested by local police on Monday during a raid at a lodge in Motiganj area. The five have been handed over to Bhadrak police. Those arrested, all in their early twenties, had checked into the lodge after arriving there on two motorcycles without number plates. They hailed from Talanga village under Bhadrak rural police station, said police. They have been identified as Bikram Mahakud, Biswanath Barik , Manoj Behera , Arun Das and A Joshi.

Rebel bail

Bhubaneswar: Orissa High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to Gananatha Patra, advisor to Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha (CMAS). The single-judge bench of Justice C.R. Dash granted bail for an amount of Rs 30,000 and two sureties of like amount. However, the high court imposed restriction on his going to Naryanpatna in Koraput district. Patra had filed three bail petitions related to three cases. The court, however, granted bail only in one case.

Train injury

Balasore: Two persons sustained critical injuries after falling from a running train, the summer special Puri- Howrah Express near Sabira station. They were later shif-ted to Cuttack from Soro Hospital . The injured have been identified as Pinki Sharma (26) and Rakesh Sharma (33) of Bihar.
