Bhubaneswar, Jan. 20: An engineering graduate from the city has come out with a web-package solution to address various problems pertaining to students and teachers on the campus.
The web-package aims to develop a better interaction between the two.
Sarathi Sabyasachi Sahoo, 27, who had earlier developed fusfus.com in 2007, said: “The Backyard (http://www.backyard.in) is an online educational social networking service. It helps everyone in an institute, including principal, administrator, faculties and students, to know each other online.”
Launching this network here today, Sahoo, who had earlier worked in Yahoo! as a technical lead from 2008 to 2013, said: “My eagerness to prove myself made me quit the job. I want to become an entrepreneur without taking support from any quarter. I wanted to prove it in the state rather that staying at Bangalore and working for a company.”
He said that the state government should come out and encourage the engineering graduates to become entrepreneurs.
“The various modules in the social network backyard takes care of all the issues of an institution such as student teacher interaction, senior-junior interaction, doubt clearance, regular e-attendance and buying and selling of goods on the campus,” Sahoo said.
The engineer claims that the system would be very helpful for engineering institutes besides it would also help in managing affairs of big institutes like Utkal University, Biju Patnaik University of Technology and even to the medical institutes such as SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.
“The new educational social network provides platform for interaction within an institution,” he said.
The students and staff of an institution will benefit from the social networking site as it has unlimited photo upload facilities. Information can also be disseminating on priority basis such as about the ongoing and upcoming college events, news and number of holidays.
“It will enhance effective communication between students-teachers and administration,” Sahoo said.
Sahoo, accompanied by his team members Sarbaeswar Sahoo, Biswajit Tudu, Bhagyajit Parida, Abinash Mohapatra, has decided to take steps to popularise their social networking site.
