One held for raping 'girlfriend'

Rourkela: Plant Site police here have arrested and forwarded a person for allegedly raping his girlfriend in a hotel room. He has been booked under charges of raping and threatening the girl with dire consequences.

A love that bloomed after a long time on the social networking site, turned sour when the boy raped the girl in the confine of the hotel room and then threatened her with dire consequences.

Kuntaraj Philips Lakra, 29, and woman were school mates around 15 years ago. At that time, they hardly spoke to each other. But later, they came to know each other through a social networking site.

Lakra, a trainee at the Rourkela Steel Plant, had allegedly assured the woman that he would marry her. On February 12, he invited her to a hotel room in Rourkela, where he allegedly raped her.

Later, Lakra allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she ever dared to reveal their physical intimacy to anyone.

However, the woman lodged the complaint with Plant Site police station three days ago. The boy was arrested on Saturday evening and was forwarded to judicial custody.
