Bhubaneswar: Eight students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur have qualified for the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences' (AIIMS) entrance examination. The students are Lalit Mohan Tudu, Satya Prakash Rout, Kishalaya Mishra, Abhipsa Anuranjana, Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, Diksha Nayak, Biswajit Mohanty and Deepak Nayak.

Diabetes

Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik International Airport on Friday organised an awareness programme on diabetes in association with the state health department and several institutions in the city. Experts called for preventive measures against the disease.

Mortgage

Bhubaneswar: A counselling centre for reverse mortgage loan for senior citizens has become operational on the National Housing Bank premises in the city. In reverse mortgage loan, the beneficiary need not have to pay the monthly instalment as long as he/she stays in the mortgaged house.

Eviction

Bhubaneswar: A joint eviction drive was conducted behind Rajarani temple near Tankapani road to demolish encroachment on Friday. The encroachers had not only violated the building approvals, but had also occupied a drain and road illegally.

Protest

Balangir: Students of the Nodal Upper Primary School in Deogan threatened to leave the school alleging inaction by the authorities against Bigyan Budek, a teacher, who allegedly forced three students to do sit-ups on June 24.
