Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21: Chief secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra has outlined the broad areas for formulation of projects and schemes to seek state-specific grants from the 14th Finance Commission. Mohapatra has advised various departments to focus on non-plan areas for which funding is generally low or inadequate. Bhubaneswar: At least four inmates of a government-run observation home for juvenile delinquents in Berhampur allegedly attacked security guards and fled on Friday night. Police have registered a case in this regard after a guard on duty lodged an FIR. The police managed to nab one, while three others are still at large. Bhubaneswar: Jet Airways has decided to withdraw three of its flights from September 28. These flights were operating from here to Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai every day. Bhubaneswar: The higher education department on Saturday asked nodal officers in 30 districts to distribute free laptops to the meritorious students passing Plus Two. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the scheme on August 7. The programme will cover 15,235 students this year.
