Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday met Union minister for panchayati raj and tribal affairs V. Kishore Chandra S. Deo in New Delhi. he chief minister urged the Union minister to give his ‘in-principle’ approval to sanction at least 100 of the 100-seated hostels for scheduled tribes, at an estimated cost of Rs 125 lakh for each hostel. The Union minister was asked to sanction the remaining 20 ashram schools during the current year 2012-13 according to the proposal submitted for sanction of 50 ashram schools in 2011-12.

Four held

Bhubaneswar: Chandrashekharpur police on Friday arrested four persons for allegedly kidnapping a youth from Nalco Square on Thursday night. The youths were sent to jail after their bail petition was rejected. They had kidnapped one Ananta Prasad Mahal for past enmity.

Girl killed

Sambalpur: A man murdered his daughter at Tetelpara in Ainthapali police limits of Sambalpur on Thursday night. The accused has been identified as Ram Narayana Mirdha, 48. The deceased has been identified as Kalpana Mirdha, 18.
