Goons steal Rs 3 lakh

Sambalpur: Unidentified persons stole Rs 3 lakh from an employee of a transport company within the limits of Town police station here on Thursday afternoon. The transport company employee, Subasish Mohanty, withdrew cash from a private bank in the city and kept the money in the basket of his motorcycle. However, the goons broke open the locked basket and stole the cash. “A case has been registered in this connection in Town police station of Sambalpur. The police are inquiring into the matter,” said inspector in charge of town police station P.K. Sahu.

Two injured

Balasore: Two workers sustained injuries after debris fell on them while they were demolishing an abandoned building in Gopalgaon in the town on Thursday. The injured duo - Gajendra Das, 18 and Abhay Das, 19, of Tala Sahi village - were admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Their condition is stated to be critical.

Thunderstorm

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Met officials on Thursday warned of thunder squalls accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph in the next 48 hours. Thunder squalls will be experienced in one or two places over interior Odisha, said an official release. The state has been experiencing soaring temperatures over the past one week.
