Man shot

Bhubaneswar: A young liquor shop salesman was shot dead by an unidentified goon at Aiginia. The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar Sahu alias Raka, 25, a native of Jagatsinghpur. Two persons parked their car in front of the liquor shop located near the Aigania over-bridge around 10.45pm on Wednesday and shot at him.

Appointment

Bhubaneswar: N. Bhaskar Rao was appointed as the deputy chairman of the State Planning Board. He will be given the status of a cabinet minister. Rao has resigned from the chairman of Odisha Small Industries Corporation. He will succeed Surendra Nath Naik.

Rain forecast

Bhubaneswar: Some parts of the state would receive heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours, the local Met office said.Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over coastal areas of Bangladesh and neighbourhood today. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places during next 24 hours,” an official release said.

Maoists held

Koraput: Security forces on Thursday arrested two Maoists from Podapadar village in Koraput. The Maoists have been identified as Palu Wadeka and Rami Wadeka. The duo was involved in a series of violent incidents in Narayanpatna.
