Villagers stage protest

Balasore: Tension gripped Parakhi in the Sadar police station area as villagers belonging to a particular community staged protest after noticing mysterious missing of bodies from the village burial ground. lleging that at least five bodies from the graveyard at Jashipur village were exhumed by goons, they lodged a complaint with police. cting on the complaint, the police registered a case of theft under Section 379 of the IPC and have begun investigation.

Hooch probe

Bhubaneswar: The Naidu Commission on Sunday visited the hooch tragedy affected Tukulipada village under Cuttack Sadar police station. The commission also met the relatives of Baidhar Bhoi who was the first victim of the tragedy. ustice A.S Naidu, who has been appointed by the state government to inquire into the tragedy, had earlier visited SCB Medical College and Hospital. Jaundice scare

Bhubaneswar: The medical team, which arrived at the seven jaundice-affected villages of Khurda, are yet to find the reason behind the spread of the disease. At least two persons died and 50 others were affected by jaundice in seven villages under Tapang and Bajpur panchayats of Khurda in the last month. All those who have been affected, including the deceased, were under 10 years.

Bus mishap

Rourkela: At least 25 school students, who were on an excursion from Chhattisgarh, were injured when the bus carrying them overturned in Sundargarh district on Sunday. Four of them suffered serious injuries and were shifted to district headquarters hospital at Sundargarh. ll students belonging to Loyola School in Jaspur district of Chhattisgarh were going to visit the Hirakud dam in Sambalpur when the mishap occurred.

Road block

Balasore: Local residents blocked the NH-5 at Khantapada. They were protesting against failure of the police to nab the culprits involved in frequent thefts in the area.On Saturday night, goons looted seven shops there. The blockade was lifted after police intervention.
