Kalinga Lancers anthem released

Bhubaneswar: The official anthem of the state-based Hockey India League franchise, Kalinga Lancers, which will debut in the second edition of the league, was released on Thursday at the state secretariat.

The anthem, titled Jazba hai jeet ka would be broadcast on television channels, radio and social networking sites. he anthem features the players of the team besides some dance moves by internationally acclaimed dancer Harihar Dash. Kalinga Lancers will play their first match in Bhubaneswar on January 28.

Lawyers’ move

Sambalpur: The Central Action Committee of All-Western Odisha Bar Association has decided to paralyse the functioning of the state and central government offices across the region during the next Assembly session demanding establishment of high court bench in west Odisha. The decision was taken at a meeting of the central action committee on Thursday.

Festival ends

Sambalpur: The Bargarh Dhanu yatra, which began on January 6, came to an end on Thursday. The 11-day festival concluded with the death of the demon king Kansa. The Dhanu yatra festival is believed to be the largest open-air theatre in the world. During the event, the entire town of Bargarh transforms into Mathura. Kansa rules the west Odisha town for 11 days.

Gang busted

Bhubaneswar: Kharavela Nagar police on Thursday busted a gang of motorcycle thieves and arrested four persons. The police seized two motorcycles from the accused. The accused were identified as Santosh Kumar Das, 24, Deepak Das, 25, Simanchal Gouda, 21, and Ranjan Kumar Hota, 32.

Arrest and bail

Balasore: Balasore town police on Thursday arrested three persons — one sitting councillor and two former councillors — on the allegation of a woman community organiser. They were granted bail after being forwarded to court.
