Attack on police

Bhubaneswar: A constable of Mancheswar police station was hospitalised after he was attacked by a group of unidentified goons at Capital Hospital. The incident took place when the constable, identified as Prafulla Kumar Jena, was present at the hospital for post-mortem of an 18-year-old boy from Mancheswar, who had committed suicide two days ago. Jena had a heated argument with a person who was assisting the family members of the deceased and allegedly assaulted him. Later, a group of youths allegedly attacked Jena.

Airport

Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik Airport will operate round-the-clock from tonight and it will remain in force till February 15 to facilitate diversion of flights from Calcutta airport. The step will help flights as the entire north Indian airspace is now under intense fog. At present, the city airport operates from 6.45am to 10.30pm.

Robber held

Bhubaneswar: Kharavela Nagar police on Wednesday arrested another accused in connection with a robbery at Chandan Jewellery at Kharavela Nagar on June 5 last year. The accused, K, Dambaru Reddy, 40, a native of Rambha in Ganjam district, was arrested from Ganjam. Earlier, the police had arrested four other persons in connection with the robbery worth Rs 2 crore.
