Puri to Shirdi train

Bhubaneswar: A new train from Puri to Sai Nagar in Shirdi was flagged off on Saturday from Puri. The Puri-Shirdi Express will run once a week. It will start from Puri at 10.15pm every Friday for Sai Nagar, where it will arrive at 8.25am the following Sunday. The return train will leave Sai Nagar at 1pm on Sunday and reach Puri at 11pm the next Monday.

Blast furnace

Bhubaneswar: Durga, the largest blast furnace in the country, has become operational at Rourkela Steel Plant, a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). SAIL chairman C.S. Verma visited the furnace and inspected the facilities on Saturday. It has been built at an approximate cost of Rs 1,600 crore.

3 arrested

Bhubaneswar: Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police on Friday arrested three persons involved in dacoity and torching of some motorcycles at a showroom in Jatni on July 31. The cops nabbed the accused persons from Bangalore. The prime accused, Kalia Sundaray, along with his two accomplices, were also involved in the bombing on Jatni police station last year. The police seized a country-made pistol and some bullets from them.

Patient hurt

Bhubaneswar: A female patient was injured when some concrete from the ceiling of a hospital fell on her in Balasore on Saturday. Annapurna Behera was injured on her hand and her newborn had a narrow escape. The patients in the room, most of them pregnant women, were shifted to another room following the mishap.

Builder held

Bhubaneswar: Saheed Nagar police arrested a builder today for allegedly cheating people after promising them to provide land. The accused, Nirmal Kumar Behera, was the managing director of a real estate firm called Simax.
