Lioness dies of old age

Bhubaneswar: A lioness died in the Nandankanan Zoo on Friday. Officials in the zoo said the 22-year-old lioness had died of old-age related causes. The lion population has fallen to eight with the death.

Two killed

Bhubaneswar: Two persons on a motorcycle died following a road accident in which they hit a kerosene-loaded tanker in Berhampur. P. Danda Reddy died on the spot and Santosh Das succumbed to his injuries at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

Suicide

Bhubaneswar: A 57-year-old small-time businessman committed suicide on Friday, apparently suspecting his wife to have an illicit relationship. Prahlad Baliarsingh took poison inside his shop a friend told him that his wife had been unfaithful to him.

Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Ganjam police arrested a murder accused absconding for the past three years. Sankar Swain was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of oneSuryanarayan Jena from Golabandha village in 2009.

Weekly train

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railways has introduced a weekly train between Puri and Shirdi. It will leave Puri at 10.15pm on August 16 and reach Shirdi on Sunday at 6.25pm. In the return journey, the train will depart from Shirdi on Sundays at 1pm and arrive at Puri on Mondays at 11pm.

Flight plan

Bhubaneswar: Air India has rescheduled its Delhi-Bhubaneswar-Port Blair flight from five days a week to four days a week from August 13 to September 15. Earlier, the flight was operating five days a week except on Wednesday and Saturday, but from August 13 it will not operate on Tuesday either.

Gang held

Bhubaneswar: Ganjam police nabbed five members of an inter-district dacoit gang. All the accused belong to Bhubaneswar. They were rounded up while planning a dacoity at a deserted spot. A car, a revolver and sharp weapons were seized.
