Bus turns turtle in bid to save cow
Cuttack: Six persons were injured on NH-5 near Bhanapur in Cuttack on Thursday when a passenger bus from Cuttack overturned while trying to save a cow on the road. The incident occurred around 8am and there were around 45 passengers in the Puri-bound bus.
All the injured six passengers have been discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital after preliminary treatment.
In another incident, a 35-year-old man died in a road accident at Nuasarak village in Athgarh block on Thursday.
The mishap took place around 9am, when Pabitra Sahu, the deceased, was returning from a gas depot on a bicycle. A speeding bus of a local theatre troop hit him. Police said Sahu died on the spot and the bus was detained.
Cuttack: Sambalpur police arrested one Sradhakar Behara, alias Babu, 27, on Wednesday for possessing arms. Three firea-rms and live ammunition were seized from him. Bhubaneswar: A real-estate dealer was found dead near Chandaka on the city outskirts on Thursday. The realtor, Kinsukh Barendash, 50, a resident of Niladri Vihar, had been missing since Wednesday evening. Police found the body in a field and seized empty liquor bottles and a bottle of poison from the spot. However, the deceased’s family members suspect foul play and have alleged that he was murdered. Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli Police on Thursday detained the husband of a 19-year-old pregnant woman, who was received dead by the doctors at Capital Hospital on Wednesday night. olice officials said Omkar Biswal of Nayapalli has brought his wife, Smruti Rani Biswal, to the hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead. However, Biswal has told the police that his wife fell into a well when she went to fetch water. Bhubaneswar: The city branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India will discuss issues related to the role of regulators in a bid to raise awareness on safe investments.
