Bhubaneswar: A 28-year-old person was found dead in his bed in his rented house in Chakeisiani on the city outskirts on Thursday. Local residents alleged that though the body of Kulamani Jena, a native of Nayagarh who was working as a driver, was found on Thursday morning, Mancheswar police came to the spot to recover the body after much delay. The police later took the body to Capital Hospital for post-mortem. Bhubaneswar: A former deputy inspector general of police lodged a complaint against Artha Tatwa groups, a real estate firm-cum-micro-finance company, for cheating him of over Rs 18 lakh. Following the complaint from Sukumar Panigrahi, Kharavela Nagar police have registered a case and started an inquiry. The police said more than 40 people had lodged complaints against the company in the past which would be added to the registered case and probe would be conducted accordingly. Bhubaneswar: The chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Rameswar Oran, arrived in Bhubaneswar on Thursday on a nine-day visit to Odisha. Oram is scheduled to tour Kalinga Nagar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal. He will also hold meetings and review the various ST councils and institutions of the state. Oram is being accompanied by a two-member team. Bhbaneswar: Saheed Nagar police on Thursday arrested two persons on charges of drugging and looting people. The duo, Rajesh Mohapatra, 20, and Basudev Sahoo, 35, hail from Ganjam district. They had allegedly drugged a youth on Monday and looted his mobile phone and cash. Berhampur: The display of sale prices of potatoes and onions in every wholesale and retail shops here has been made mandatory and will come into effect in three days. A committee has been formed to fix prices considering the rate structure, sub-collector Ajit Mishra said on Thursday. It will monitor the rate structure from time to time. Balasore: The court of chief judicial magistrate convicted two employees of the district emergency office of breach of trust and punished them with three years' of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000. Surendra Behera, a clerk, and Ramchandra Majhi, a watchman, had been caught selling polythene sheets meant for relief distribution. Bhubaneswar: Social activist Swami Agnivesh is scheduled to meet anti-Posco activists at Gobindapur village of Jagatsinghpur district on Friday. The activist had attended a similar meeting in 2011 where he said it was illegal to hand over fertile land to a multinational company such as Posco.
