bhubaneswar: Met officials on Friday issued a thunder squall warning for certain parts of the state. “Latest satellite observation indicates that a thunder squall, accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph, is likely to affect some parts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, southern Puri and Mayurbhanj districts,” said an officials. bhubaneswar: Parents of an engineering student, whose body was recovered from a canal at Sambalpur on Thursday, said on Friday that they suspected foul play. The student, Kesab Mishra , student of a private engineering college, had gone missing on Wednesday. bhubaneswar: The state’s under-5 mortality has surpassed the national average decline, said an official statement from the department of health. The state has recorded the second highest drop in under-5 mortality after Madhya Pradesh during 2009-2010. Under-5 mortality declined by 6 points from 84 in 2009 to 78 in 2010, which is higher than average national decline of 5 points (64 in 2009 to 59 in 2010), the statement said. sambalpur: Sambalpur police on Friday arrested 12 persons and busted a gang of dacoits, allegedly involved in hijacking aluminium ingot-loaded trucks from the roads.
