Cong workers hurt

Berhampur: Two Congress supporters were attacked and injured in Khariaguda village within Jarada police station in Ganjam district. Some goons attacked Ramnath Sahu with sword and set fire to his bike when he visited Belpada on Tuesday evening. Another Congress supporter Nilanchal Sahu was injured when he was attacked with bombs by some goons on Wednesday morning. Manoranjan Samantray Congress candidate from Chikiti Assembly constituency alleged that attack was masterminded by the BJD supporters. Both the injured have been admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.

Gold stolen

Berhampur: Gold silver ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from the house of G. Ramesh Achari of Sowdhanrya Nagar within Sadar police station limits here during the midnight on Tuesday. The incident occurred when everybody were asleep in the house, police said.

Poll violence

Paradip: Police on Wednesday arrested four Congressmen on charge of triggering post-poll violence in Madhuban locality of the port township on April 20. The arrested persons had brutally assaulted a local BJD worker over poll-related issues.he attack had led the ruling party to stage demonstration in front of the local police station a day after the incident.

Four held

Sambalpur: Four persons have been arrested in connection with the clash, which took place at the office of the public health and engineering department at Modipara in the town. The arrested persons are Suresh Mukhi, Raki Mukhi, Arata Mishra and Akshaya Pattnaik.

Oath

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader Ranjib Biswal on Wednesday took oath as Rajya Sabha member in New Delhi. The newly elected BJD MPs Kalpataru Das and Sarojini Hembram had taken oath on Tuesday .
