Cash bonus

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Sunday announced a cash incentive of Rs 5 lakh each for Odia athletes Dutee Chand anf Jauna Murmu for qualifying for the World Athletics Championship in London. Dutee had bagged  bronze in the women’s 100m at the Asian Athletics Championship this month. Murmu will represent India in the women's 400m relay race. 

Ragging

Bhubaneswar: Another case of alleged ragging has surfaced in the state with a boarder in a private nursing school in Sambalpur district chopping off the hair of a fellow boarder. According to reports, the student, after waking up from her sleep in the hostel on Sunday, found that her hair was chopped off and her face smeared with ink.  However, it's not yet clear who was responsible for the act. The student informed her family members, who later reported the matter at Dhanupalli police station. The police, in the course of their inquiry, has detained the principal and an employee of the school.

Five held

Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday arrested five persons for allegedly assaulting two businessmen at gunpoint at Satya Nagar. The police said they were trying to nab three others involved in the incident. The accused allegedly Sk Zakir and Sk Sahid over past enmity.
