Three killed

Bhubaneswar: Three persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Cuttack and Mayurbhanj districts on Sunday. In Mayurbhanj, two persons died after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck at Kalama Square in Baisinga police limits. Three others suffered injuries and have been admitted to Baisinga Hospital. The deceased are yet to be identified. In another accident, a young woman died after coming under the wheels of a speeding truck at Raghunathpur on Cuttack-Paradip Road. The deceased was identified as Rasmita Rout.

Criminal held

Puri: Police arrested notorious criminal Sashi Nayak after an encounter near Batamangla Chhak in Puri district on Saturday. Nayak has suffered a bullet injury on his leg and is undergoing treatment in Cuttack. A team of cops and special squad of the district police intercepted Nayak at Batagaon, acting on a tip-off.

Kids drown

Keonjhar: Two kids, including a girl, drowned in the Baitarani river while bathing at different places in Keonjhar on Sunday.
