No respite from heat

Bhubaneswar, April 15: The heatwave condition has shifted from the coastal belt to the interior pockets of the state.

The meteorological centre here recorded the highest temperatures at Sonepur (45.8°C) and Titilagarh (45.7°C) today. The maximum temperatures in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack hovered around the 40°C mark.

The Met department also predicted the situation to continue for at least five more days.

The unofficial death toll allegedly due to sunstroke increased to 31 with one more case being reported from Nayagarh district.

Reports of the highest five alleged sunstroke deaths came from Khurda district.
