Bhubaneswar, March 6: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today did not celebrate Holi for unspecified reason.

The BJD workers, who had gone to Naveen Nivas to celebrate Holi with their party supreme, had to return disappointed.

Even, there was no celebration at the party's office. However, the ministers and MLAs played Holi in their respective residences and met the party workers.

This is for the second consecutive year that Naveen skipped the Holi celebrations. Last year, he did not celebrate Holi, expressing sympathy for the victims of Phailin and the subsequent floods that had claimed nearly 40 lives.

However, the Chief Minister's Office did not cite any reasons for his act of skipping Holi this year.

BJD worker Ramachandra Das said: "I am really disappointed. Only once a year, we get chance to be in close company with the chief minister and smear him with colour."

The party leaders were also equally disappointed for not getting opportunity to enter Naveen Nivas. In the afternoon, Naveen left for Gopalpur under Krushna Prasad block in Puri district to lay the foundation stone of a government industrial training institute.

Minister Damodar Rout, who celebrated Holi in his residence, said: "I am sitting in my residence and playing Holi with my supporters and well-wishers."

On the other hand, leaders from other political parties, including Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan and tribal affairs minister Jual Oram, celebrated Holi in the city and met party workers. Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan also played Holi with party cadres and supporters.
