Bhubaneswar: After three Ts - transparency, teamwork and technology - it is time for the Naveen Patnaik government to implement the 3D formula that the chief minister spelt out on Monday as he completed four years in office in his fourth term.
Addressing his council of ministers, he said dedication, determination and devotion (3Ds) should be the corner stone of his government's policy as the BJD sets eyes on 2019 electoral battle.
Later in the evening, he met his officials, including secretaries, and asked them to submit proposals on ways to make the administration more responsible and pro-people.
At the ministers' meet, Naveen said: "One of our top most priorities is to convert all kuchha houses into pucca houses. In the last four years, 17 lakh pucca houses have been constructed. The remaining seven lakh houses will be completed by March 5 as a tribute to the great Biju babu."
He also explained how his decision to accord land rights to slum dwellers had turned into a historic decision.
Aware that the government is often being criticised following the suicide of farmers, Naveen said: "We are the only state to have doubled farmers' income in the last decade. Share-croppers will be provided crop loans and our farmers in rain-fed areas will get remunerative prices under the Millets Mission."
He also said that his government had marched ahead in providing additional irrigation potential and set a record in food grain production.
Naveen made clear his commitment to set up nine medical colleges in the state.
He also touched upon government's initiatives in skill- development, empowerment of women through self-help groups and making Bhubaneswar a major sports hub.
However, the next few months ahead of the election would be an acid test for Naveen's government as it will need to thwart BJP's aggressive campaign against his government and stop the march of the Congress that is trying to reassert itself under the leadership of new PCC president Niranjan Patnaik.
