Bhubaneswar, Sept. 20: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today asked officials to complete the reform process in the industrial clearance system by October 10.
The deadline was set by the chief minister while reviewing the ongoing 'ease of doing business' process.
#The state government has started simplifying the clearance procedures for industrial proposals to woo investments. Various departments, such as finance, industries, energy, labour, forest and environment, health and family welfare, housing and urban development, law, food supplies, revenue and disaster management and the pollution control board have initiated steps to bring about reforms in their rules. The government has also hastened the deadline in case of many clearances.
It was revealed at today's meeting that the state government had received commitments for the establishment of as many as 75 industrial projects out of total 124 proposals received during the investor meets held in Mumbai and Bangalore and at the Make in Odisha Conclave held in Bhubaneswar last year.
The chief minister directed the officials of various departments to work in tandem for successful grounding of these projects, said an official source present at the meeting.
Industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra said Naveen had asked the officials to comply with 373 action points for the reform process by October 10. These action points had been identified at a meeting of officials presided over by chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on July 26.
'An interface of officials and representatives of industries will be held on October 13 to discuss and suggest how to better the industrial climate in the state, so that more investors will be attracted,' said Chopra.
Naveen also instructed the officials to expedite development of single-window portal and complete it at the earliest to ensure hassle-free facilitation support.
Through this portal, 34 types of clearance can be given online. This system will provide an online platform for application, payment, tracking and downloading of the project approvals.
In a World Bank survey conducted in 2015, Odisha had ranked seventh with 52.12 points in ease of doing business among 32 states or Union territories across the country. However, the state slid down to 11th rank in 2016, though it scored 92 points. Now, it aspires to come within top three ranks by bringing in more reforms.
