Months after joining Twitter, chief minister Naveen Patnaik is now on Facebook to connect with people.

Shortly after joining the social networking site on May 2, he posted a picture of the three chariots during rath yatra with the caption "Jai Jagannath". The post has been shared by over 50 people and followed by over 12,000 users.

The page has already garnered over 46,000 likes. Interestingly, when he joined Twitter in September last year, his first tweet was also 'Jai Jagannath'. His twitter handle has over 3,75,000 followers.

While there were many fake accounts in his name, the chief minister's office (CMO) confirmed that Naveen has indeed launched his verified Facebook page.

They further affirmed that the page would facilitate feedback from people for Naveen and promote better delivery of services and governance. Citizens are also encouraged to provide suggestions and ideas on the page.

The page was shared by a number of people and many posted on his page welcoming him to the network.

"Looking forward to know about progress on information technologies. We require some more IT companies to establish their business in our state," said a post by Akash Mohanty.

"Good afternoon Sir. Thank you for your healthy performance in Odisha for the greater benefits. You have an adorable personality. May Lord Jagannath bless u...," read another post by Jyotiranjan Das.

Naveen's profile introduces him as the chief minister of Odisha and president of the Biju Janata Dal. While his profile picture is that of a younger Naveen in a thoughtful mood, the cover picture shows him distributing food packets among children in a government school.

Naveen's Facebook page and the CMO Odisha page will also be used for live streaming of his important events. Earlier on February 24, the CMO Odisha page was the first in India to use the live streaming facility, which was confirmed by Facebook.
